Whether to Draw or Swim ...?

The endless deep green pools along the South Fork of the Smith River are perilous in that they beckon your attention away from oncoming logging trucks and swaying motor homes.  Images of diving into cool waters to escape the summer heat temporarily enchant you, until your partner grabs the steering wheel and escorts you firmly back into your lane. 

The Smith River Alliance was generous enough to let me stay at Rocky Creek Ranch for a week while I tried to capture some of the beauty of this river.  In return, I will be making a limited edition woodblock print to help raise funds to protect this amazing wild and scenic river.  I have also volunteered to help set up an artist residency program with the Alliance.   Stay tuned to see how the work progresses!
