River Otters!

This photo was taken on a visit to the Oregon Zoo last year. My otter visitor was not as obliging.

The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy has stewardship of a lovely paradise on the Rogue River. Just before lock down, I re-visited the property, looking for inspiration for a print to donate to their efforts. A pileated woodpecker was busily ripping apart a stump with a sound like chopping wood, but the inquisitive river otter, who kept checking on me while I ate lunch, stole my heart. A family of mergansers was also a tempting subject, but I’m going to have to see what I can do with an otter. Stay tuned to see if it works out or……not.
